As the production unfolded, the team faced the realities typical of first-time filmmakers. The original plans and budget were frequently revised or abandoned. He co-wrote this scene and teared up as he watched his words come to life on screen.
The film eventually released in theaters across the U.S., garnering mixed reviews but disappointing box office results. In hindsight, Kurush thinks the film suffered from an inadequate marketing plan. He mentions the difficulty of attracting the diaspora audience without recognizable stars. These factors likely hindered its commercial success. A slower, more gradual release might have built stronger word-of-mouth buzz. However, these conclusions are drawn with the clarity of hindsight.
Reflecting on the experience, Kurush identifies a few key lessons he wishes he had known beforehand:
